Knots and Bowling 結繩、保齡球賽

Game 1: 
To understand “each digit in hundreds, tens and ones"
I taught my kids a long time ago, that people did not always use numbers to count, sometimes people used different things like rocks, branches, or knots.
I used knots to teach the children "ONES" "TENS" "HUNDREDS"
I prepared everything for the lesson but the kids still needed to make some of the knots on their own.
For Amira it was not a problem, for Corban, it took some time to practice it. But he made it.
Then the kids had to draw some numbers and find the correct knots and lay them on the papers.
I uses different coloured knots too and areas on paper for the kids to know how much each knot stands for. I did this so they wouldn't mix them. They had to put them in the right spots on the paper.
That was quite difficult for the 4 year old, but for the 6 year old it was no problem.

第一單元:結繩
現在通用使用數字是阿拉的數字,但很久以前的人,用各種符號來標示數字,結繩也是一種方法之一,我先讓小孩稍微看一下不同標示數字的方式,之後就是結繩來代表數字。
之前我就已經教過個位數、十位數跟百位數(100到底有少),今天算是複習加深學習印象。
教材是利用不織布剪成長條形,分別打出1~9個結,0則沒有打結。當然這些題材你可以請小孩跟你一起做,也可以自己先做好,我則是完成教材,但是上課前,邀請小孩自己先打幾個結來看看,對於沒打過結的小孩說,可是一件挑戰喔!不過凡事都要練習才能有成果,小孩慢慢學就會了。之後我寫下幾張數字卡,有三位數、兩位數或個位數的數字,請小孩子抽籤,在把正確的結繩放到對的位置上。另外一種方式則是念數字給小孩聽,請他們把結繩放放在對的位子上,小孩對聽數字跟看到數字的反應速度並不相同,兩種方式都可以玩一玩。

For Corban it was not easy to make a knot, it took a while to make one.

三種顏色代表三種位數,練習分辨每個位數所代表意義,
這樣練習可以幫小孩將來在兩位數加減有幫助  
brown knots stand for ones, blue knots stand or tens, orange knots stand for hundreds
the paper is also separated between hundreds tens and ones.

Game two:
Bowling competition (to understand 10s)
Playing bowling was fun , The kids were very happy and it kept me busy resetting the pins every time they were knocked down.
After the children knocked down the pins, I asked how many pins were knocked down.
The kids knew that there were 10 bottles and had to look how many were left and answers. 
After the game , the older kids added the score to practice addition.
(it was a good game for our 6 year old)
第二單元:保齡節比賽(10以內的分合)
舉行一場小小的保齡球比賽,因為參賽者眾多,
也才四個,搞得我拼命排球瓶。
年齡不拘,所以每位參賽者都迫不急待的拼命往前擠,
害我排好的保齡球又倒了,我得要一手排球
,一手照相,一腳擋小孩,活似八爪章魚。
數學演練法是:
先解釋一共有10個保齡球
每次打倒球後,立刻把倒掉的球蓋起來
請小孩回答剛剛倒掉幾瓶球
練習10內的分合
最後請會運算加法的小孩來計算出比賽的結果
(適合1~6歲玩,5~6歲學習10的分合)

When the kids knocked the pins down, you had to separate them right away.
