Cooking for the children has a few good benefits. I have some conclusions about cooking at home:
Saving money: Eating out always costs more than cooking.
Eat more healthy: You know what ingredients you are putting into your own food. It is more fresh and non-processed.
Give children a chance to learn about cooking: The children can learn how to cook while watching you cook. Sometimes you can let the kids make cookies or bread with you. And your children can have more fun hanging out with you.
Let cooking be a prize: Sometimes you can encourage your kids to do their house work, then they can have a special dessert during dinner time, it works for 5-6 years old kids.

煮飯給家人吃是我每天必要的工作之一。小孩們每天都很期待我煮的食物,倒也不是我的廚藝多精湛。但我的小孩卻十分喜歡吃我煮的食物,他們的胃口十分好,蔬菜、水果皆不挑,也沒特別需要吃很多肉類。不過他們三餐中間倒是沒零食可以吃,偶爾飯後會吃到甜點。
不過煮飯時間也是個挑戰,通常中午吃飯時間,兩個大的小孩有15分鐘自我閱讀時間,然後收玩具打掃客廳跟把衣服晾好或者折衣服並且收到櫃子去。老三會到廚房'關心'我的煮飯的情況,他總是站在我旁看我煮的食物,偶而問我那是什麼食物。老四就是在睡覺,等到飯煮好了她就可以起床吃飯。
煮晚飯就比較熱鬧些,老大會寫作業或者自由活動,老二很喜歡畫畫,他會畫一篇故事,然後來廚房講給我聽,此時廚房已經有老三跟老四。所以煮晚餐的時候會很熱鬧,一推人擠在小小的廚房。不過我還是很樂意下廚,小孩們吃得健康又開心,讓我十分有動力下廚。
假日時候,我先生也會偶而做做麵包或餅乾來犒賞自己一下。小孩也樂意在當中幫忙,雖然常常搞得雞飛狗跳的,最後總是開心的享受美食。
在家做飯除了可以吃得健康安心外,也可以省下外食的開銷。因為我家人數不少,個個都是大胃王,十分會吃。加上家人數量比較多一點,對於小店面的餐廳,就顯得不方便去吃。所以得往大一點的餐廳吃飯,那開銷就會很大。
加上有時候,我也可以讓小孩參與下廚的樂趣,培養他們的烘培能力,這也是下廚的好處之一。
我有時候也會用煮食物當作小孩的獎品,他們會期待我做的點心和麵包,然後很努力完成家事,因為多做點的人可以多拿一些,這對大一點小孩,還滿有用的。
